Smaller than a 15-inch notebook: The new Dell XPS 17
The XPS series from Dell has another 17-inch model. However, you don't necessarily have to buy a new case for the business notebook.
Without giving exact figures, Dell promises that the XPS 17 is one of the smallest 17-inch laptops. Thanks to the "InfinityEdge" display, there is virtually no bezel and the laptop is even smaller than many 15-inch models currently available.
XPS 17 relaunched and XPS 15 updated
The aluminium casing of the XPS 17 contains Intel Core chips from the current tenth generation. The graphics card can go up to GeForce RTX 2060. To ensure that the notebook doesn't get too hot with this hardware, Dell praises its thermal design, which optimises the airflow and thus guarantees "smooth performance". The battery is said to last up to 19 hours. Sounds impressive, but is probably not the battery life under full load.
The HD webcam and microphones that suppress echoes and background noise should be helpful for the home office. "Waves Nx 3D Audio" sounds exciting. The technology is designed to recognise head movements and adapt the sound output of the headphones to the direction of gaze.
Price and availability
Dell is still keeping the exact configurations and prices of the XPS 17 and XPS 15 to itself. You probably won't have to wait much longer for the XPS 15. Further details could follow as early as mid-May. For the XPS 17, these will come on 11 June at the earliest.
