This model definitely supports AiMesh.
This Asus router only has Ethernet connections and therefore cannot replace your Salt fibre box. The Salt fibre box also does not support bridge mode and therefore you cannot use the fibre box as a pure media converter. However, you could use this router as a pure Wifi access point. (You can set this in the setup of the Asus router). Depending on the flat / house, a mesh system can also be useful.
why should that be possible, this router has only wifi.

Room 50 m2, have 100 MBit/s line, Wlan 5 Ghz measured 101 MBit/s, Wlan 2.4 Ghz measured 22 MBit/s.
So it works, did you measure with different end devices?

Maybe this will help (both routers must be connected via LAN for the configuration).

This is not an LTE router. LTE antennas will not work on this device. However, the antennas can be unscrewed and you can use other antennas that are suitable for WLAN (correct frequency etc.).
This should give at most minimal loss of power, probably not noticeable.

Unfortunately, we can't know 100% because we have several suppliers and can't know which unit you will get. However, according to ASUS, there is only the REV C version on the Swiss market today.

I bought my RT-AC68U a good 2 years ago. I can't find any information about the hardware version on the device itself. But maybe this will help: CPU: ARMv7 Processor [413fc090] revision 0 (ARMv7)
ADSL2+ would not be a problem in itself. But the Asus RT-AC68U has no modem "on board".
This router must be connected to the WAN port of the cable modem of the cable network provider (CablecomUPC, EBL, etc) or to a DSL model (Swiscom, Sunrise, Salt, etc). The modem should be in bridge mode and not perform any router activities itself.

I would most likely check the following in the (advanced) adapter settings:
- no annoying power saving settings activated?
- U-APSD support should be deactivated
- Transmission power set to highest value?
- Transmission mode set to 802 11a/b/g?
I have been using the ASUS router since mid-April 15 and am very satisfied with it. My RT-AC68U consumes 18.5 watts in normal operation (no USB devices connected). Without WIFI, the power consumption is 13.9 watts. I am not aware of a standby mode. The power data were measured with a PM 230 burner chair.
