According to the information we have found, this sound card has problems with Dolby Digital via the optical output on the latest firmware (https://www.reddit.com/r/SoundBlasterOfficial/comments/vwfcnr/windows_11_soundblaster_x3_logitech_z906_no_rear/). It is therefore recommended to use the original Z906 cables (black, orange, green) to enjoy 5.1. In general, any optical cable will do for this kind of installation, unless the desired cable length is long.

I can only confirm once again that the sound is good ... I can compare this with an SB AE-7 and an AE-5 Plus. There is hardly any difference in the sound ... With the AE-5 Plus there are occasional crackling noises when starting up, I assume that this is connected to the power supply, because the AE-5 needs additional power. From a sound point of view, the sound of the X 3 seems to me to be almost the best. The AE-7 is even clearer, but has the small disadvantage that the internal sound card in a powerful "gamer PC" deflects the air in the case (below) upwards, where a 3090 heats up enormously. This is a clear advantage if the sound card with good quality does not disturb the air supply. i would then choose the X3 anyway. LG ruwebWer

Unfortunately, I couldn't find this information anywhere at the manufacturer's or on the web in general. With a bit of luck, someone else will answer your question.
