As far as I know, this is not possible without software. I know that some drives may come with software, maybe there is more information on the manufacturer's site whether this external drive comes with software or not.
But this is a Blueray drive for a PC or notebook and not for a TV. You need USB and HDMI is not really suitable for this.
Hello, I have a PC, but according to the instructions you have to press the "OPEN" button (on the head side) for 2 seconds with the tray open until the light comes on permanently => BlueRay mode. Press it again and you are back in ODD mode. - Good Luck!
Watching blue-rays is certainly possible, I think the drive should also work with a MacBook. But I can't guarantee it 100%, because unfortunately I don't have one myself.
Use this device with Surface & Windows 10 without any problems.

- USB 3.0 (on your computer) is fully compatible with USB 2.0 on the drive.
The transfer rate at 6x Blu-ray speed is lower than USB2.0.
- There is a CD with the CyberLink "Media Suite 10 for Blu-ray" with PowerDVD 12, Power2Go 8, PowerProducer 5.5 and MediaShow 6.
I haven't tried out the software yet. I have only just bought the drive.

Yes, it's made for PC.
It is a usba-usb micro b cable, if i am not mistaken. The second plug can be dispensed with as it is only needed if one connection does not supply enough power :)
