Can I send the picture via HDMI to the beamer on the one hand and the sound synchronously via the existing RCA output to an amplifier on the other?

As far as we know, picture AND sound are transmitted via HDMI. I am not sure what happens if a second audio output is connected to the unit. Normally this should send all audio signals to all outputs. Whether this really corresponds to the fact ... I have an almost similar construction. I connected a media box to the TV via HDMI and connected an amplifier from the TV via the headphone output. Then some configuration on the TV and it worked.

Can this Blu-ray player play CDs gaplessly? So when playing CDs with songs that flow into each other (e.g. live albums), are there pauses between the songs that shouldn't be?

The "gapless playback" function has been known for CDs for a relatively long time and is also supported by the BDP-180. The topic is highly topical with streaming formats such as MP3, ALAC, FLAC, etc. and must be supported by the device.
