It is certainly much easier to buy the cheapest router than to configure IPs manually if you are perhaps a layman yourself. I don't know what motivates you to do without a router. If it's the radiation, then the antenna can be deactivated on practically all wi-fi routers. If it is a missing port because everything is already occupied on the router, which you may already have, and you are using a secondary LAN slot on the mainboard, then it is easier to buy a small LAN switch and expand the router. (Works with any router)

The only advantage of WLAN (unfortunately only minimally evolved in the last decade) is that you don't have a tangle of cables in the home network and can therefore be more mobile.

I have a logitech keyboard/mouse (wireless with usb receiver) + the xbox controller in use. Everything runs wonderfully.

No. The Steam Link can only be used as a client, i.e. a receiver of the game that is connected to the TV. Only Windows 7 or newer, Mac OS or Linux work as a server; iOS or Android do not work.

Buy and try out. The theory is that the streaming does not run over the internet from the provider, it only has to be ensured that the PC is connected via the same home network (router) as Steam Link.
It doesn't matter if you have 2mb/s, 30mb/s or no internet provider, as long as you use the same router as the connection point, you can use the maximum data speed from the router, this is usually far above what a computer transmits in terms of data volume.
However, if I am wrong, as I do not own this product and am only writing based on hardware theory and not programming, then 25mb/s should also be sufficient.
Conclusion: I highly recommend testing this product and if the quality or functionality is not right, return it to Digitec.
PS: Data cable (Ethernet) transmits up to 1Gb/s and a router is usually at a data throughput of over 500Mb/s with a LAN connection.

Basically, Steamlink does not do much more than simply stream the screen content to the TV/beamer. Without having tried this with films myself, it should be possible to register [insert_mediaplayer_here] as a non-Steam game and start it from Steam. This is how I play Unravel (Origin), for example.

I use a usb pad myself, as well as a usb mouse and keyboard. However, I saw in the settings that bluetooth devices can be paired with it. And so I would also say with the reports on other sites, yes, it is recognised and integrated. I can only recommend this device. You have complete control over your computer in your living room. The only thing I find a shame is that you don't have a mic link. So teamspeak is out of the question for me.
