Question about UnifiFlex:Outdoor 5Port PoE Switch - 227788

I would like to bring my LAN network into the garden and connect 3 Unifi Flex Cameras there. I have a Unify Security Gateway with a Unif 8 switch. Now I thought that I could use a dLAN Pro 1200+ PoE Powerlink adapter to bring the network into the basement and from there connect it with a LAN cable from the house and a Unifi Flex Outdoor 5 port PoE switch to which the three cameras are connected (i.e. Gateway->Switch->dLAN->Unifi Flex Outdoor->3x UnifiFlex Camera). It all seems rather adventurous to me, but it seems to be the only feasible solution to avoid having to pull in LAN cables afterwards. Can anyone tell me if this works (especially the switches in series) or if there are other solutions?

Hello Sandro. In principle, this is possible, but you have to consider the power consumption and the standards that the UnifiFlex switch (PoE 802.3bt) and the cameras (PoE 802.3af) require. The dLAN Pro 1200+ has a power consumption of just 15.4W. The UnifiFlex requires about 5 watts for operation and then a few watts per port depending on the camera, 60W is recommended. Check what your cameras consume.

In principle, you can also take a Powerlink adapter without PoE, which is cheaper, and then take a PoE injector with 60W (recommended by Unifi) in the garden house and hang it in between. Unifi also has these on offer (www.ui.com/accessories/poe-adapters/). Please note that some powerline adapters only work down to 0 degrees Celsius. Presumably, these will also work below that.
