"If you want to dry frozen fruit, you should defrost it first. You can also thaw the frozen fruit in the dehydrator, but then you have to make sure that the thawed water can run off or is collected. Experience shows that this only works with shock-frozen berries and fruits (e.g. those from the shop), as the cell walls are (hardly) destroyed and not all the juice runs out when thawing.

I do this regularly. Soak the meat 24 in the spice. Turn regularly. Then dry at a rather low temperature for 12 to 36 hours, depending on the meat.

I have never removed this. Switch off the Dehydrex, turn it over and shake out what comes out. I've had mine for a few years and things fall out every now and then. Three months ago, the heating system broke. I ordered a new one from Stöckli and rebuilt it myself. I had to open the appliance and there was practically no dirt or debris in it.

I used to have metal grids. They were good too. And for about 10 years I've been using plastic. Personally, I think plastic grids are better because they are easier to clean. Dishwasher is no problem. But I think that everyone has to answer the question of whether metal or plastic is better for themselves. Personally, I would only buy plastic grids.

I chose metal because it seemed more stable. But I never put the grids in the dishwasher. For very juicy products, I ordered silicone inserts directly from Stöckli, which fit directly onto the grids. This was a great help, because otherwise they would have got stuck in the grids. I can't say whether this is different with plastic. Metal just seemed more stable to me.
