The Tacx ANT+ antenna and the Garmin USB ANT stick basically use the same ANT+ protocol for data transmission. The difference lies in the alignment and design: The Tacx antenna is optimised for indoor trainers and is connected via a USB cable so that the receiver can be positioned closer to the trainer, making the connection more stable. It is compatible with all trainers that communicate via ANT+ technology, including Tacx ANT+ trainers and smart trainers as well as third-party trainers. The Garmin USB ANT Stick is compact and plugs directly into the PC, making it particularly suitable for Garmin wearables and general ANT+ sensors. It automatically receives activity data as soon as a compatible fitness device is within range and transfers it either to Garmin Connect (online) or to the Garmin Training Centre software.

The ANT+ antenna T2028 from Tacx is a USB antenna that is connected to the computer via a USB port. It is a USB interface that is suitable for use with training software such as Zwift. The antenna enables the wireless connection of ANT+ exercise bikes to the PC and is compatible with all ANT+ trainers on the market. Whether USB 2.0 or another USB version is explicitly used is not directly stated in the available information. As the antenna is designed as a USB device for home trainers and software such as Zwift, it can be assumed that it supports at least USB 2.0, as this is the usual minimum requirement for such devices. However, there is no exact confirmation of the USB version.

I have this ANT+ antenna. It is purely theoretically plug and play. However, there are various criteria to look at: 1. smartphone is a relatively broad term, so more specifics would be helpful and I may be able to give you more information. 2. the connection is type A, so you will certainly need an adapter to connect your mobile phone. 3. depending on your phone, you may be missing services to run ANT and will need to download them. As far as I know, these would be ANT Radio Services and ANT+ Plugin for Android, for an iPhone you should install the corresponding packages with the appropriate app (Zwift or similar). I hope I have helped you, but I can't guarantee if this is really true. Otherwise, there is a well-described article by ANT itself on thisisant.com

It didn't work for me, but in retrospect it wasn't necessary. Because the sensor was so badly packaged (defective box taped together), I couldn't return the whole thing. Try it without the new Flux. Zwift and Bkool somehow work without it.
