Golden September: products for the transition from summer to autumn

September is a month full of surprises. Sometimes it spoils you with golden late summer days, sometimes cool rain showers herald the arrival of autumn. I have selected products from our range that you can enjoy every day with.

First, let's take our thoughts outside

Outdoor time without sunburn

The leaves on the trees are slowly changing into autumnal colours. The temperatures are more pleasant than in midsummer and the air is often nice and clear. Ideal conditions for excursions and hikes. The backpack «Mammut Lithium 20» is perfect for stowing a rain jacket and provisions. It has a volume of 20 litres.

The backpack is largely made from recycled material and offers many details such as shoulder padding that allows air to reach your body. The waterproofing is water-repellent and a rain cover is integrated. The hip belt also has a pocket for your smartphone.

When was the last time you flew a kite? With the winds picking up and the first autumn storms on the horizon, September is THE opportunity. According to the manufacturer, the «Invento Symphony Beach 1.3 Rainbow» has been developed for (re)beginners. Handling is described as easy and the flight behaviour is said to be stable.

Have another barbecue and eat outside

Some people like to barbecue in the fresh air even when it's snowy and icy. But it's definitely nicer when it's still warm outside. The Weber Spirit E-210 gas barbecue with two burners and 7.77 kW power offers you enough grilling surface to feed a large family or many guests

With the snap-jet ignition, you can ignite each burner individually and control the temperature to suit the food being grilled. As is typical for the brand, there is plenty of space for plates, spices and the barbecue tools themselves.

With the matching water-resistant bonnet, the barbecue remains protected even in changeable weather and is ready for the next use. Simply slip it over the cooled barbecue and secure it with the Velcro straps.

The bonnet fits all barbecues in the Spirit II 300, Spirit/Spirit EPX 300 and Spirit 200 series.

When it rains and gets cooler: Time for wellness

Do you know that feeling? The first chilly evenings and rainy days make you want to enjoy your first wellness moments? A hot tea can create a cosy atmosphere that makes the transition into the dark season more pleasant. The «Organic Alpine Herbal Tea Selection», which combines eight different Alpine herbal teas from organic farming, provides variety. The set contains two bags of each variety. So you can try them out and perhaps discover your new favourite variety.

If tea makes you think more of a sore throat, i.e. you're more of a coffee person, an espresso is the better choice. The «Napoletano» is made from 75 per cent Arabica and 25 per cent Robusta beans. When the wind whistles around the house outside, the fresh aroma of the espresso may remind you of your recent holiday in Italy.

Tea, coffee? Ovaltine is a must, right? To make sure the child thrived and didn't get sick, my mum regularly put a cup of it on the table. And unlike a horrible-tasting multivitamin juice, the name of which I'd rather not mention now, I actually liked Ovaltine.

Developed over a hundred years ago, this malty-flavoured product has no added sugar and contains vitamins, calcium, magnesium and iron. The packaging alone makes me a little sentimental.

Relaxation for body and soul

Maybe you feel the same way: I don't feel like having a bath in summer. It's not until autumn that I feel like having a bath again. But then really, with candlelight and music. The «Kneipp bath crystals for muscle relaxation» contain arnica extracts and essential oils. A combination of rosemary and pine species should not only relax and warm you. The bath also promises relief from muscle pain if you overdid it on your last bike tour.

Speaking of relaxation. Opinions differ when it comes to scented oils in the home. Some don't like the smell at all, others are absolute fans. I'm one of them. I just like it when my home smells nice.

The «Rio fragrance oil set» combines peppermint, tea tree, lavender-lemon and eucalyptus. You can use them in a diffuser or in a humidifier.

Baking again in autumn

Cakes and biscuits always work, don't they? As much as I love baking, I don't stand in front of a hot oven in summer. But I can start again from September. And as is so often the case in the kitchen: If you skimp on the utensils, it usually doesn't turn out so well.

The Dr Oetker baking tin is flexible. You can extend it between 20 and 35 centimetres. The loaf tin is 7.5 centimetres high and has a non-stick coating. However, you should still grease it. I advise you not to put it in the dishwasher, but rather to wash it by hand. The coating quickly peels off in the machine and the thing is ruined.

I like to bake muffins when I'm bored or the weather is bad. My granddaughter loves them. The 38 × 27 centimetre tin from Kaiser makes 24 of these little cakes. It also has a non-stick coating, which should make it easier to remove the muffins.

And of course: the recesses really tempt you to use the dishwasher for cleaning. I still prefer to wash such moulds by hand. And because I already use small paper moulds for muffins when baking, it doesn't take long either.

Cooking is and remains a question of having the right tools. Get started with this stainless steel kitchen utensil set from the «Profi Plus» series from WMF.

This includes six utensils on a rotating hanger: ladle, slotted spoon, wok turner, turner, whisk and vegetable peeler. All tools are dishwasher-safe.

What are your tips for the month of September? What do you absolutely need for your well-being? Write it in the comments.
