No. Direct access to the NAS is not possible. The software must be running on the PC and the NAS drive must be connected to the PC. It is possible to save directly to the cloud (e.g. Onedrive, Dropbox, Google Drive). Many NAS support a sync with a cloud. Theoretically, it would be possible to access the NAS without a PC.

Clean both scanner bars. Dampen the cloth with soapy water (it must not drip) and then rub it back and forth frequently over each scanner bar with the cloth stretched over your finger. Finally, moisten the cloth with glass cleaner and go over the scanner bars again. Now make a scan on both sides. If there are still streaks, go over the scanner bar at the appropriate place with your fingertip or fingernail (or with a magnifying glass and a lamp) and feel whether there is a scratch (e.g. from a paper clip that has been pulled through). If there is a scratch, then the scanner bar must be replaced. Prices and estimates can be obtained from Fujitsu support (0800 673 8187, free of charge). In very rare cases, an LED in the scanner bar may also be defective. In this case, however, there is a deep black, razor-sharp line about 1 mm wide. In this case, the scanner bar must also be replaced. In most cases, however, cleaning is all that is needed. Often there are residues of ink on the scanner bar that have not dried and cannot be removed quickly with a duster. Good luck1

It is a general phenomenon in IT hardware that discontinued models are more expensive than their (better) successors after a certain point. This is because previous buyers know "their model" and have already installed the drivers. So if you want to integrate another scanner of the same type into your system or replace an old one (e.g. due to a defect), you don't want to bother with new drivers and a clean uninstallation of the old drivers. That's why discontinued models (not only for scanners, but also for printers) are in great demand, but are becoming increasingly scarce, and as a result the price goes up. Those who have never had a scanner from the same manufacturer will of course always go for the new model, especially if it is also cheaper.

The scanner works fine for me on my MacBook Pro with Monterey. I only use it over the network (i.e. not USB) with the ScanSnap Home application; I also have ABBY FineReader for ScanSnap installed and it works, but I use a different OCR solution in my environment. This page https://scansnap.fujitsu.com/global/dl/os-home.html also gives information on compatibility for Windows. (Accordingly, both Windows 10 and Windows 11 should be compatible).

A question actually for the customer service and not the buyers. 2 minutes of research reveal: The iX1600 is also available in black. But let's be honest-is that really soooo important? I wouldn't have voluntarily bought my iX1500 in white either. But the thing is so great, it can be pink for all I care.

I think that OCR must run on the PC. Even if not, what should OCR do? Extract something from the PDF! And the extract has to be stored somewhere. What do you want to do? Store the PDF and the extract as a file on Dropbox?

I have this scanner which I use on my Mac with no problem. I had the 1300 model before, incredible progress in terms of speed and ease of use (no need for a cable, you can use wifi and it works with several computers). The scans are done in one pass in duplex. Very practical and space-saving receiving tray (curved upwards). Perfect compatibility with MacPay payment software. Not tested for business cards.

I have not had any problems with the software so far. Neither in Microsoft Windows 10 nor in Mac OS. Windows 8 was developed in 2012 and Windows 8.1. as an affordable version was released in 2014. Thought in OS dimensions, that is old. I advise you to switch to Windows 10. If that is not possible for you: uninstall the software, use a registry cleaner at best, such as CCleaner and reinstall the software. However, I have found an article on your topic on the Internet here: https://blog.officemanager.de/2013/07/scansnap-error-anomalitaet/. I wish you good luck. Kind regards

Is it for a Mac or PC installation, and what should be installed at all ? Fujitsu has released a new version of ScanSnap Home for Mac on... Dec 19, 2019 (see: https://www.pfu.fujitsu.com/imaging/ss_hist/de/mac/index.html). Fujitsu software download is here: http://scansnap.fujitsu.com/global/dl/ In addition, the ScanSnap iX1500 supplied by Digitec came with even older firmware, which, at least with MacOS Mojave did NOT work (I bought two iX1500 at the same time). First of all, I would advise you to connect your ScanSnap to your computer with a USB cable, then download/install a firmware updater from Fujitsu (for Mac or PC depending on your situation). From then on, it's smooth sailing installing ScanSnap Home, also via WiFi. I have been using ScanSnaps daily for more than 15 years: absolutely excellent; the new software (now High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina compatible - not yet tested with W10) has become even better.

Google Drive works, I set it up that way. Apple iCloud does not work. This is not Fujitsu's fault: Apple seals off the iCloud. I haven't tried network, but network drives connected to the PC/MAC can be selected as storage locations.
