This question is not really relevant in everyday life. Reading at high speed is all well and good. But I would exercise caution when writing. These SSDs are so small and can get very warm. When I cloned the hard drive, I even considered whether I should connect a USB2 hub in between when writing. In the heat of the moment, I forgot to do this. The SSD survived :-)

Yes, it works. That's exactly why I bought this docking station. You could also use an external housing for the M.2 NVME SSD. However, this makes little sense if you have to remove the SSD immediately after installation. For cloning, I would recommend a good programme (Acronis True Image) or (AOMEI Backupper) so that the system partitions are also cloned correctly. In my case, I made a clone from my internal 1TB M.2 SSD to 2TB (docking station). Swapped and it worked without any problems. Conclusion. Very good product ;-)

You cannot directly clone an M.2 SSD installed in the notebook with this device, as it is a docking station that connects M.2 SSDs externally to a computer. To clone an M.2 SSD, you will need additional software and possibly another device that connects the SSD directly to the computer. However, this docking station allows you to access the data of the M.2 SSD via a USB-C port.

Hi I tested this briefly, and the SSD software (in my case Micron Storage Executive) recognised the SSD, I was able to query all settings and also upgrade the firmware successfully. Regards Tux
